But in business, the truer phrase is:
“If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re probably NOT going to get there.”
There are several layers to running an intentional business.
- Personal mission: What’s the intentional foundation for your life?
- Business purpose: Do you have a business mission, or are you just filling a market gap?
- Intentional leadership: How do you intentionally address the many facets of leadership?
And now that I’ve used the word “intentional” so much, let’s break it down. Here’s what it means to me:
- You have a goal or purpose.
- You consciously pursue that goal with calculation, deliberation, and planning.
- You follow a plan or at least use a process or method.
- You look for improvements through reflection and feedback, then improve.
Being an intentional business leader means being intentional in the many aspects of your business. I’ll go into those various aspects in later posts so I can do each one of them justice. But for now, think about the implications of being intentional in each area where you or your team should be focused.
